Cleaning
• First, rugs are separated based on being hand made or machine made. Hand made area rugs generally are more sensitive.
• Then we remove as much dust and dirt as possible from the rug.
• Rugs are then tested for colour fastness. To protect colours from bleeding the use of a colour stabiliser is used and a special method performed like dry cleaning to leave the least amount of water as possible on the rug.

• We check to see if there are areas on the rug more soiled or if stains are present. If yes, we pre-treat the area. Please understand that some stains like some pet stains may not be removed as they have permanently changed the colours of the wool.
Rugs are then cleaned with different methods depending on the type, age, colour fastness, thickness. In brief, some methods we use include hand cleaning, dry cleaning, jet spray and extraction. Fringes are treated separately to prevent damage. We use only professional grade rug cleaning products to insure that your rug stays looking it’s best. Then rugs are groomed, deodorised, neutralized and marked ready for delivery.

Drying
All of our rugs are laid out flat to dry. Hanging rugs up when wet can lead to too much strain on the foundation of the rugs. Air movers are used in a controlled environment to help facilitate drying without the use of high heat (so there is no worry of shrinkage). After a trip to Clean & Dry’s rug cleaning workshop, not only will your rug be cleaner and softer to touch, but the colours are more vibrant and your rug smells fresher.
